Standardized Tests and Lapbooking

Time4Writing Can Help Your Children Prepare for Standardized Tests

Is it time for standardized tests in your state?
If your children will soon be taking a statewide standardized test such as the Florida’s FCAT writing test in February, now is the time to start one of the Time4Writing eight-week online writing tutorials. These classes provide the writing foundations that will help elementary, middle and high school students excel on standardized tests. The online writing courses can help children prepare for both state and college-entrance writing tests as well. They build basic writing skills, explain essay types and structure, and teach students how to organize their ideas. Learn more about Time4Writing today!

If you’re a homeschooler using lapbooking and want to include more writing in your project, now is a great time to add Time4Writing to your routine. Time4Writing has created a printable lapbook pocket where you can store your student’s writing assignments. Time4Writing complements lapbooking because completed work is easily printable, for inclusion in your lapbook. The finished lapbook becomes part of a wonderful homeschool portfolio to document and review what your children learn each year. Plus, lapbooking is just plain fun for kids! What We Offer
Time4Writing provides online writing courses that help students in elementary, middle and high school master writing fundamentals. For eight weeks, students interact with a certified teacher, who assigns objectives and a weekly topic for study through online writing lessons. Students sign in and work through the automated exercises, lessons, readings, and written assignments. A personal writing teacher reviews and provides feedback on each assignment the day after it is submitted.

A recent U.S. Department of Education research report, Evaluation of Evidence-Based Practices in Online Learning, found that, “On average, students in online learning conditions performed better than those receiving face-to-face instruction.” The primary reasons for this improvement are the ability for the student to go at their own pace and the active engagement required with online study programs, i.e., students learn by doing instead of by listening.
