The Essay Writing course will explore the essay writing process from the prewriting stage to the revision stage. Students will work weekly practicing and mastering each step of the writing process before moving onto the next step. The curriculum will be personalized, to each student’s ability, by a qualified and caring writing instructor
This course will prepare students for writing essays for school assignments.

How do I know which course to choose?
First, you'll want to zero in on the appropriate grade range. Knowing that our international visitors may be using a different naming system for the grade levels, we'll lay them out for you below.
- 3rd-5th grade students (7-10yr olds) will generally use elementary courses.
- 6th-8th grade students(11-13 yrs olds) will generally use middle school courses
- 9th-12th grade students (14-19 yr olds) will generally use high school courses.
Next you'll want to decide on what you hope to get from the course.

Unit 1: Prewriting the Essay
Students learn to apply three different prewriting techniques to his or her own writing.
Unit 2: Writing the Thesis Statement
Students gain an understanding of how to write a detailed and focused thesis statement.
Unit 3: Writing the Introductory Paragraph
Students write a structured and exciting introductory paragraph that leads up to the thesis statement.
Unit 4: Writing the Body Paragraph
Students learn to write well-structured body paragraphs that include a focused topic sentence, specific supporting details, and transitional phrases that all work to support the thesis statement.
Unit 5: Writing the Concluding Paragraph
Students learn to write a concluding paragraph which leaves the reader fulfilled and shows the significance of the ideas.
Unit 6: Revising, Editing, and Proofreading Your Essay
Students identify editing symbols and apply revision techniques to his or her essays.
Unit 7: Writing the Persuasive Essay
Students learn to write a strong, well-developed persuasive essay.
Unit 8: Publishing Your Writing
Students find outlets for “publishing” their essays and construct and “publish” their own letter to the editor.
