Time4Writing presents its courses on a website, which is our “virtual campus.” Students will have their own secure sign in, which they will use to:
Each course is divided into 8 units with weekly goals for each unit. Students participate in the online exercises and also receive a writing assignment to complete.
How does the class work?
Students submit assignments online using the Time4Writing online interface and the teacher grades these assignments and provides feedback on their work using the same interface. Students (and their parents) may contact their assigned teacher through the Time4Writing system with questions about assignments or student progress. Parents will be sent a mid-course and end of course report on the student’s progress and accomplishments. The student will receive a certificate of completion when all assignments are completed successfully.
Each course is $99 and gives the student 24 hour access to their lessons for a consecutive eight week period.
When do the students need to sign in/be in class?
Students do not need to be in class at any particular time of day. Instead, they sign in on their own schedule. Typically, a student might sign in 3-4 times a week to access their lessons and submit their homework.
How do I sign up?
It’s easy. Simply choose a course and sign up. We’ll have your child enrolled by the time you’re done with the process. If you aren’t sure of which course to select, we can help you figure out which one would best suit the needs of your young writer.
How does teacher feedback work?
After students submit their writing assignment, they will have to wait no more than 24 hours for feedback from the teacher (excluding weekends). Students will log in to find their feedback and will receive a percentage score as well as some helpful pointers from the teacher on how to improve their writing.
See an example of how the feedback will look to the right of this answer.
How do students communicate with the teacher?
All communication between student and teacher will be done within the Time4Writing campus using the teacher feedback or the internal messaging system. Parents can view a copy of all messages sent from teacher to student via the internal messaging system.
How do parents communicate with the teacher?
Parents will be able to contact the teacher either by email or the messaging system, while logged in as the student. As well, parents will receive, by email, mid-course and end-course reports, as well as any necessary notes from the teacher.
How much time will students need to complete a course?
Each course will require approximately 2 hours per week, at 8 weeks, which totals about 16 hours per course. Of course, this will vary by student. The enrollment lasts a total of 63 consecutive days.
Can I complete several weeks of assignments if I want to accelerate the course and finish it in less than 8 weeks?
Each unit of study is intended to build on the things learned in the units preceeding it. Therefore, students are encouraged to wait for feedback before moving on to the next assignment. This way they will benefit from teacher feedback at each step of the writing progression. However, it is possible to complete the course in less than 8 weeks if student assignments and teacher feedback are both completed in less than 1 week time spans.
Can I stop in the middle and restart the course later?
Unfortunately, this is not possible. If within the first 14 days you find that your schedule will not allow you to complete the course, you may cancel for a full refund or select a different course. After 14 days, refunds are not available. However, in the event of certain situations and when arrangements are made in advance with your Time4Writing teacher, you may be able to take the time off that you need. We will not be able to extend your enrollment without prior notification of the student’s absence.
Do you offer discounts?
If you are enrolling 5 or more students in classes or signing up for 5 or more classes at one time, you may receive a 5% discount on your tuition. If you are enrolling 10 or more students or signing up for 10 or more classes at one time, you may receive a 10% discount. Volume discounts are only available through telephone enrollment.
How does Time4Writing work with teachers, schools, and school districts?
Time4Writing can work with schools in a variety of ways. Time4Writing can handle large numbers of students so that it can be a part of or supplement to a school’s offering. Alternatively, Time4Writing could accommodate a school that would like to use their own teachers and/or their own curriculum. Time4Writing could create an interactive version of a school’s curriculum and train teachers on how to implement existing curriculum into Time4Writing’s online campus. Please inquire using our contact us form for more information.
