Fragments and run-on sentences prevent clear presentation of ideas. It’s often easy to fix sentence fragments by adding the missing parts in order to create complete sentences. Run-on sentences can usually be corrected either by splitting the parts into separate sentences, or joining them with conjunctions and proper punctuation. Learning these methods of avoiding or recognizing/repairing fragments and run-on sentences is very important.
Time4Writing’s free writing resources cover ways to recognize and repair fragments and run-on sentences. The games, printables, presentation, and video supplement Time4Writing’s online courses. Designed to help students improve their writing skills, regardless of academic grade or proficiency level, Time4Writing’s 8-week courses provide more in-depth practice and one-on-one instruction by a certified teacher.
