The elementary school writing lessons in grammar rules teach students about the basic parts of speech (nouns, pronouns, adjectives, adverbs, verbs) and the 4 types of sentences, plus beginning capitalization and punctuation rules.
Students will also learn to identify subjects and predicates, as well as fragments and run-on sentences. In addition, students will begin to recognize and utilize basic proofreading strategies.
In Time4Writing’s elementary school writing class about sentences, students will learn to distinguish complete sentences from fragments and run-ons. They will learn about the different types of nouns and simple action verbs, and how to use adjectives and adverbs to describe nouns and verbs.
Using these writing skills, students will learn to write and revise the 4 types of sentences – declarative, interrogative, exclamatory, and imperative sentences – including descriptive details.
Time4Writing’s third writing course for elementary school is all about writing paragraphs. Our interactive paragraph writing curriculum will teach students about the parts of a paragraph, including topic sentences, supporting details, and closing sentences.
