Creative Writing Ideas

Have you ever been asked to write a creative story, but you had no idea what to write about? Sometimes the opposite happens and there are too many ideas to narrow down to just one. If you’re stuck, just take a few minutes to brainstorm ideas. You can start by looking around and noticing the things and people around you. Is there an interesting story there? Think about your experiences and have your character go through similar things. She might learn to ride a bike, move to a new school, make a new friend, or win an award. You can also use the people you know to give you ideas. You might include your mother in your story, your best friend, or even your dog! Think of things that wouldn’t normally happen. You might write about animals that can talk, a magical place, or a faraway world. Sometimes books can give you ideas. Think about what you’re reading or what you’ve recently read. Can you write a similar story? Can you write a new ending to the story? If you’re still stuck, just start by making a list of whatever comes to mind. Write it all down. Look over your list and try to add to some of the ideas. Before you know it, there will be a whole bunch of great ideas to choose from!
